In a class, the number of girls is 20% more than that of the boys. The strength of the class is 66. If 4 more girls are admitted to the class, the ratio of the number of boys to that of the girls is

A. 1 : 2

B. 3 : 4

C. 1 : 4

D. 3 : 5

Answer: Option B

Girls : boys = 6 : 5
Hence, girls = $$6 \times \frac{{66}}{{11}}$$ = 36
Boys = 30
New ratio, 30 : (36 + 4) = 3 : 4

Suppose boys=100
Girls is more than 20% of boys=120
Then 10x+12x=66
22x=66
x=3

Boys=10×=10×3=30
Girls=12x=12×3=36

4 girls are admitted in class
36+4=40

=No.of boys/No.of girls
=30/40
=3/4

20% = 66*20/220
= 6
Girls = 6*120/20 = 36
Boys = 30

let the number of boys is x
the number of girls = 120% of x = 120/100*x = 6x/5
so x+6x/5 = 66
11x/5 = 66
x = 30
num of boys is 30 and num of girls is 6*30/5=36
4 girls added then 36+4 =40
required ratio= 30:40 = 3:4
