In remote sensing, Infrared radiation is utilized for photography. The wavelength used for photography range from about 700 nm to about 900 nm.
Remote sensing is the process of detecting and monitoring the physical characteristics of an area by measuring it's reflected and emitted radiation at a distance. Special cameras collect remotely sensed images, that help researchers “sense” things about the Earth.
