The salinity affected area has its unique method of plantation. They follow a furrow irrigation system and maximum salts accumulate in ridges of soil between the furrows. Some follow ridge cultivation with drip irrigation which can decrease soil salinity and produce ecological benefits. Northern areas are salinity affected areas thus ridge cultivation occurs in northern slope areas.
