In 1987, sixty-two cultural and political organisations, including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren), the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Marandi), and a few smaller organisations, formed the Jharkhand Coordination Committee. It attempted to make the dream of a distinct Jharkhand province a reality.
