Meat production in India is estimated at 6.3 million tons annually and is ranked 5th in the world in terms of production volume. India is responsible for 3% of the total meat production in the world.
The largest producer of meat in the country is Uttar Pradesh producing 23% of the total meat followed by West Bengal contributes 12% to the meat production. Andhra Pradesh is the third largest meat producer in the country which produces 7% of the total production.
