Milpa is a crop-growing system used throughout Mesoamerica. It is a modified form of the Slash & burns cropping system usually practiced in hilly areas of our country.
As like in slash and burn, in the milpa system of cropping also a field is cleared from the jungle, cropped for a few seasons and then abandoned for a fresh clearing.
