Wheat is the main cereal crop of India. The total area under the crop is about 29.8 million hectares in the country and is the second most in production of wheat in the world. Punjab has emerged as the biggest producer of wheat followed by Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as per the survey in 2020. Punjab alone produces 125.84 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.
