India is the world's second largest producer of rice and the largest exporter of rice in the world. It is a Kharif crop and is mainly grown in areas that receive heavy rainfall. Traditional rice growing areas are West Bengal, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Odhisa, etc.
But because irrigation process made it feasible to grow Rice in a nontraditional areas like Punjab and Haryana also.
