The agricultural land of India is divided into 15 major agro-climatic zones, which on dividing it into sub-divisions, there are 64 zones in India. These are divided based on different agricultural parameters like climate, type of soil, optimum rainfall and temperature, etc.
The main objectives of the division of these zones are to optimize agricultural production and to increase agriculture based income.
