Rice is a Kharif crop, that needs a hot and humid climate. Best production occurs in areas of high humidity, prolonged sunshine, and an assured supply of water. The average temperature required is 21°C - 37°C, but it tolerates up to 45°C. Rice is semi aquatic plant as it grows in submerged fields and needs consistent irrigation all through the life cycle.
