Rock phosphate is a non detrital sedimentary rock that contains high amounts of phosphate minerals. Rock phosphate has a chemical composition of Ca3(PO4)2.the phosphate content of phosphorite varies greatly from 4% to 20% phosphorous pentaoxide (P2O5).
Around 90% of rock phosphate production is used for fertilizer and animal feed supplements and the balance for industrial chemicals.
