Sugar beet and sugarcane both are used in the production of sugar. Sugar beet is the long day plant means it requires more than 12 hours of daylight for proper fruiting and flowering and synthesis of sugar whereas sugar cane is a short day plant which means 8 hours of daylight is also appropriate for food synthesis in cane.
