An acceptable range would be 6.5 to 9.0, but most suitable pH is 6.5. Fish can become stressed in water with a pH ranging from 4.0 to 6.5 and 9.0 to 11.0.
A higher water pH can become especially dangerous for pond fish, as both high pH and high temperatures will increase the toxicity of ammonia in water.
