In the alluvial soils of India, deficiency of zinc is most widespread. Analysis of soil and plant samples has indicated that 49% of soils in India are potentially deficient in Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu, B and Mo.
Alluvial soils are formed by the deposition of the river load, it is fertile soil rich in minerals, especially lime.
