A. 35 litres
B. 40 litres
C. 60 litres
D. 96 litres
Answer: Option B
Solution(By Examveda Team)
Milk | : | Water |
7 | : | 5 |
7 | : | 8 |
3 unit |
∴ Remember water is added and not milk, so make milk equal but here milk is already equal
3 units = 15 litres
1 units = 5 litres
8 units = 40 litres
Total quantity of water in the new mixture = 40 litres

THIS TYPE OF SHORT TRICK SOLUTION ---WE EXPECT FROM THE EXAMVEDA RATHER THAN LONG SOLUTION
let's, milk = 7x
water = 5x
after adding 15L of water.
water = 5x + 15.
so,
7x / (5x + 15) = 7/8
=> 21x = 105
=> x= 5.
So, water = 5x + 15
= 5*5 + 15
= 40
Milk is constant and water changes from 5 to to 8
difference of 3 = 15L
Therefore 8= 15*8/3= 40L
