Answer & Solution
Correct Answer:
Option

The role of spines in the desert plants is to save the moisture from evaporation. Cacti have leaves that have evolved into spines, which help minimize water loss by evaporation and screen the plant from the sun. Their thorny spines also help protect them from predators. Within hours after a rainfall, the cactus' roots sprout tiny rootlets to help absorb water even more quickly.
