Rice fields are the source of various Greenhouse gases like Carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. Whereas the production of methane in flooded paddies is in abundance.
Methane is produced as the terminal step of the anaerobic breakdown of organic matter in wetland rice soils by the presence of microorganisms.
