New Hebrides Trench reaches maximum depths of some 25,000 feet (7,600 metres) or more, the deepest soundings in the whole Coral Sea region. The Aleutian Trench reaches a maximum depth of 26,604 feet (8,109 metres) at about 51° N, 178° W.
