The Santhal revolt (1855 - 1856) began in 1855, led by Sidhu, Kanhu, Chand and Bhairav. The uprising was also known as Santhal Hul or Hul revolt, and it occurred as a result of exploitation by thikadars, moneylenders, and the police.
