In Hazaribagh, St. Columbus College became the epicentre of the freedom movement. Many students joined the campaign and dropped out of school. One of them was ram Vinod Singh, who was one of the college students' leaders and was apprehended by British authorities. The title of Jatin Bagha was bestowed upon him.
