The height of a solid right circular cylinder is 6 metres and three times the sum of the area of its two end faces is twice the area of its curved surface. The radius of its base (in metre) is
A. 4
B. 2
C. 8
D. 10
Answer: Option A
Solution (By Examveda Team)

Height of cylinder h = 6 metre
Let radius of cylinder = r metre
∴ curved surface area = 2πrh
Area of end face = πr2
⇒ Total area of two end faces
⇒

⇒ 2πr2
Given that 3 × 2πr2 = 2 × 2πrh
3r = 2h
r = 4 cm
∴ Radius of base = 4 cm
