Two cans have the same height equal to 21 cm. One can is cylindrical, the diameter of whose base is 10 cm. The other can has square base of side 10 cm. What is the difference in their capacities ?

A. 250 cm3

B. 300 cm3

C. 1350 cm3

D. 450 cm3

Answer: Option D

Solution(By Examveda Team)

Difference in capacities :
= Volume of cuboidal can - Volume of cylindrical can
$$ = \left[ {\left( {10 \times 10 \times 21} \right) - \left( {\frac{22}{7} \times 5 \times 5 \times 21} \right)} \right]$$      $${\text{ c}}{{\text{m}}^3}$$
$$\eqalign{ & = \left( {2100 - 1650} \right){\text{ c}}{{\text{m}}^3} \cr & = 450{\text{ c}}{{\text{m}}^3} \cr} $$
