Delphinidin, a plant pigment is responsible for the development of Red colour.
Delphinidin is an anthocyanidin, a primary plant pigment and also an antioxidant.
It gives blue hues to flowers in the genera Viola and Delphinium. It also gives the blue-red colour of the grape, cranberries, pomegranate, etc.
It is pH-sensitive, i.e. a natural pH indicator, and changes from red in basic solution to blue in acidic solution.
