Dorsum of insects containing meso and meta notum is called Alinotum.
Alinotum is the plate to which the wings are attached on the notum of an insect.
The pterothoracic nota (comprising the meso- and metathoracic segments) have two main divisions that are the anterior wing-bearing alinotum and the posterior phragma-bearing postnotom.
The mesothorax and metathorax have become so intimately associated with the wings that they have almost become a subunit separate from the prothorax, and as such the two segments combined are often referred to as the pterothorax.
