In areas having moderate climatic conditions, gladiolus can be grown throughout the year. Gladiolus can be grown in a wide range of climatic conditions. It can be grown from plains to an altitude of 2500 m.
Gladioli grow from round, symmetrical corms that are enveloped in several layers of brownish, fibrous tunics. The flowers of unmodified wild species vary from very small to perhaps 40 mm across and inflorescences bear anything from one to several flowers.
