Verticilium lecani is the white halo fungus.
Vertilcillium lecani commonly called white halo fungus is found sprouting on the body of coffee green scale Coccus viridis. The fungus is known to cause epizootic when the environmental conditions are favourable.
This fungus was first described in 1861. Insects are infected when they come into contact with the sticky fungal spores which then grow and invade the body, thus the internal organs are consumed, leading to their death.
