Glabrous refers to a smooth plant surface completely devoid of hair or pubescence in seedling of muskmelon which denotes male sterility.
Male sterility has immense potential for the production of hybrid cultivars of muskmelon. Five recessive nuclear male sterile genes (ms-1, ms-2, ms-3, ms-4, ms-5) are known.
