In India Date is harvested at Doka Stage. It is the stage 13 - 17 weeks after pollination. The fruit is hard, yellow pink, or red and may be sweet or astringent.
Date palm in India occurs on the western border, especially in the Kutchh district of Gujarat with about 18286 ha. with a production of 171522 MT of fresh fruits. It was at the initial stage in 2014. Among Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other states Gujarat is the top producer.
