An interspecific hybrid variety of tomatoes is Pusa Red plum.
It has been evolved at the IARI by a cross between cultivated tomato and the wild L. pimpinellifolium. It is an early variety suitable for table use.
The fruits are small, borne in clusters with red colour and high vitamin C and sugar content. The plants are tall, with determinate growth habits, vigorous and high yielding.
