Mir Jumla (1591-1663) a nobleman in the service of the State of Golkonda in the Deccan plateau of Central India was the first owner of what was later known as the Kohinoor then the largest diamond in the world. Mir Jumla was a Persian born near Isfahan in Iran. He was the son of an oil merchant. Koh-i-noor diamond was presented to Aurangzeb by him.
