Potato is a . . . . . . . . plant for tuberization.

A. SDP

B. LDP

C. DNP

D. None of the above

Answer: Option A

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Potato is an SDP (Short day plant) plant for tuberization.
Tuberization in potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a complex biological phenomenon that is affected by several environmental cues, genetic factors and plant nutrition.
In the case of potatoes, it requires more photoperiod to induce flowering. Whereas the formation of a tuber requires very less photoperiod. Thus, it is told that potato is LDP (Long day plant) for inducing flowering; but SDP for tuber formation.
