Pusa Kesar is a variety of carrots.
Pusa Kesar is developed at the IARI, New Delhi. It has red-coloured roots and self-coloured core. It can tolerate higher temperatures. Suitable for sowing from August - early October. The crop matures in 90 - 110 days with an average yield of 30 t/ha.
The carrot variety Pusa Kesar can be left in the field 1 month longer than the variety Local without bolting and produces significantly fewer forked roots with a higher carotene content. The seed crop matures 15 days later than that of Local.
