Spice Board works under the Ministry of Commerce.
Spices Board is a statutory body constituted with effect from 26^th February 1987 under the Spices Board Act, 1986 by merging the erstwhile Cardamom Board and the Spices Export Promotion Council under the administrative control of the Department of Commerce.
The main aim of this board is to develop, promote and regulate the export of 52 spices and spice products that fall under its purview. It also engages in the promotion of production, processing, domestic marketing, and export of cardamom (both small and large).
