Surya Deva appointed UN adviser on human rights and businesses

Surya Deva has been appointed by the Geneva-based UNHRC as the Asia-Pacific representative of the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises.

About Surya Deva

Mr. Deva is an associate professor at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong and his research interests lie in Business and Human Rights, Corporate Social Responsibility, India-China Constitutional Law, and Sustainable Development.

He recently wrote a background paper for India’s National Framework on Business and Human Rights and in 2014.

He was elected a Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Constitutional Law.

About UNHRC

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system made up of 47 States responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe.
