Tandem copulation is found in which insect order?

A. Odonata

B. Ephemeroptera

C. Hemiptera

D. Protura

Answer: Option A

Solution(By Examveda Team)

Tandem copulation is found in Odonata insect order.
The male will either remain in direct contact or reside nearby to defend the female while she lays her eggs. ‘Contact guarding’ occurs when the male remains physically attached to the female in the tandem position.
Males that contact guard has greater security against other males trying to mate with the female as it is much more difficult for another male to grab a female that is already in tandem. The tandem position may, however, present a larger target for potential predators such as lizards and birds.
