The chili hybrid Arka Harita was developed using CGMS lines. It is an F1 hybrid of the cross IHR 3905 (CGMS) × IHR 3312. High-yielding hybrid with 35 - 38 t/ha fresh yield and 5 - 5.5 t/ha dry yield; fruits are green and turn to red on maturity, smooth and highly pungent; tolerant to powdery mildew & viruses.
CGMS is also known as nucleoplasmic male sterility. A-LINE Male sterile (ms/ms) S B LINE Male fertile (ms/ms) F Male sterile (ms/ms) S To maintain CGMS line by the crossing of A-line with B line. In the case of CGMS line, should have recessive genes in the nucleus otherwise it would become fertile.
