The uniform flowering in pineapple can be induced by the application of 25 ppm Ethephon + 2% urea. Ethephonis the active ingredient in etherel.
Ethephon at a concentration as low as 25 ppm in combination with urea (2%) was able to induce more than 90% flowering after 50 days of treatment. The addition of either urea or calcium carbonate increased the effectiveness of ethephon for the induction of flowering.
