Nagarjuna Sagar, which is situated across the Krishna River on the border between Guntur district, Andra Pradesh, and Nalgonda district, Telangana, is the world's largest masonry dam. This dam, with a gross storage capacity of 11.472 billion cubic meters, was built between 1955 and 1967. From its lowest base, it is also 590 feet (180 m ) tall and 0.99 miles long with 26 flood gates that are 42 feet (13 m) wide and 45 feet (14 m ) tall.
