Sel No. 29 is a tropical type carrot cultivar.
Based on temperature requirements, carrots are classified as temperate or European and tropical or Asiatic. The tropical cultivars do not require any low-temperature treatment for flowering. They produce flowers and seeds on plains of high temperature.
Sel no. 29 is developed by PAU, Ludhiana. This is one of the quick-growing varieties. Carrots of this variety are light red in colour with long tapering roots. An average yield of 80 to 100 quintals of the crop is obtained per acre of land.
