The answer should be south .East is shifted towards south ie. Pole moved 90° in the anticlockwise direction so obviously west will be in the south direction.

The answer is Correct which is North but explanation is wrong. It should be clock wise as directions don't change. The pointer changes because of accident and the directions remain as is it. So, the pointer showing East is now showing South means it is moving in 90 degree clockwise. Hence, west will become North which is correct.

Wrong explanation. Kindly correct. If it moves in anti-clockwise direction, East will be in North direction and so on. Since, West is opposite of East and according to your explanation of anti-clockwise, West will become South.

If the pointer of the pole shows east as south,then it will show south as west,so the answer should be south
