Allelopathy is derived from the greek derived compounds allilon means one to another and pathy means natural harm or suffering. This term was first used by the Austrian professor Hans Molisch in 1937 which means the effect of plants on each other.
He used the term to describe biochemical interactions through which a plant inhibits the growth of neighboring plants.
