The Section 48 of the State Constitution stated that, out of 111 Seats of the Assembly, 24 seats should remain officially vacant for the Territorial Constituencies of the State that came under the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Thus, there were 89 members out of which 87 are elected and 2 are nominated (women).
