B. 2 only
C. Both 1 and 2
D. Neither 1 nor 2
Answer: Option D
Solution(By Examveda Team)
Both the statements are incorrect. Currently, 35 biodiversity hotspots have been identified, most of which occur in tropical forests. They represent just 2.3% of Earth's land surface, but between them they contain around 50% of the world's endemic plant species and 42% of all terrestrial vertebrates. India hosts 4 biodiversity hotspots:the Himalayas, the Western Ghats, the Indo-Burma region and the Sundaland (Includes Nicobar group of Islands).Related Questions on Environment and Ecology in Indian Geography
