The largest area with low annual rainfall is in south-west Odisha, which includes the Vansadhara and Rushikulya catchment basins, as well as a tiny length of territory east of Lake Chilika, eastern Koraput, Ganjam, and the western section of Puri District.The average annual precipitation in the upper Tel catchment basins and rolling uplands of the Bargarh Plain is less than 130 cm, which covers portions of the Titlagarh, Balangir, and Patnagarh subdivisions of ancient Balangir, as well as parts of Bargarh district.
