1. Tata Elxsi and Sarla Aviation signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Bengaluru on 1st September 2026 to develop Shunya, an indigenous electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. Shunya is planned as a seven-seater eVTOL with six passengers and one pilot, and it is designed for runway-independent operations.

2. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution reduced the sugar stock holding limit for dealers and traders to 2,000 quintals on 1st September 2026. The earlier limit was 4,000 quintals, and the revised cap will apply from 15th September 2026 to 30th November 2026.

3. SpiceJet, an Indian low-cost carrier, suspended all Boeing 737 MAX passenger flight operations in August 2026 and removed the aircraft type from its active schedules. The Boeing 737 MAX is a narrow-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing as part of the 737 family.

4. The fifth edition of Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar (SSSS v.5.0) was launched on 1st September 2026 for marine litter removal and coastal conservation in India. The week-long campaign is scheduled from 12th September to 19th September 2026 and will conclude on International Coastal Cleanup Day.

5. The Ministry of Civil Aviation launched international hub-and-spoke flight operations at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad on 1st September 2026. Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Ram Mohan Naidu and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the service at Ahmedabad, which became the third Indian airport under the ministry's hub-and-spoke framework.

6. India regulates the sugar sector through a strong legal and administrative framework that covers cane pricing, mill operations, domestic sales, stocks, exports, and by-product use. The system aims to protect farmers, stabilize consumer prices, and ensure timely payment of cane dues.

7. The government monitors essential commodities through price tracking, stock disclosure, buffer management, and trade regulation to curb hoarding, reduce volatility, and support food security. The Price Monitoring Division functions under the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and serves as the central agency for collecting price data.

8. Gollalagudi Temple, also called Gollala Gudi, in Palampet village of Mulugu district, Telangana, was declared a monument of national importance through a gazette notification issued by the Union Ministry of Culture and Tourism on 1st September 2026. The declaration increased the number of Archaeological Survey of India protected monuments in Telangana to 10.

9. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated a two-day international workshop in New Delhi on 2nd September 2026. The workshop was held on the theme "Tiger Landscapes: Conservation, Bioeconomy and Ecotourism as Pillars for Livelihood and Income Generation" and continued till 3rd September 2026.

10. The Supreme Court of India on 2nd September 2026 directed the Tamil Nadu government to frame rules for a specified channel for fishing vessels to transit through territorial waters to the Exclusive Economic Zone. The bench comprised Justices P. S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe, and the matter concerned access for vessels carrying purse seine nets.

11. The Supreme Court of India announced on 3rd September 2026 that India would host the three-day BRICS Chief Justices Forum in New Delhi. The forum began on 4th September 2026 and was scheduled to continue until 6th September 2026 ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit.

12. Indian Railways is developing India's first hydrogen-powered trainset for regular operation at a target speed of 110 kmph. The train completed trial runs at 120 kmph, while its earlier operational cap was 75 kmph. A hydrogen train uses a fuel-cell system to generate electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.

13. Gaurang Vyas, a Gujarati music composer, arranger and singer, died at the age of 87 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on 2nd September 2026. He was known for work in Gujarati cinema and for composing music for more than 100 films.

14. The Supreme Court of India has directed seven consenting states to amend service rules and raise the retirement age of district judges from 60 to 62 years. The order was passed in the case of All India Judges Association v. Union of India and applies to Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

15. Sikkim has identified 40 high-hazard glacial lakes, including 16 in Category A, 2 in Category B, 9 in Category C, and 13 unclassified lakes. The state has also begun work on India's first dedicated Glacial Lake Outburst Flood risk mitigation protocol for downstream settlements.

16. Tripura recorded a zero per cent dropout rate at the primary school level, covering Classes 1 to 5, in the 2025-26 academic year. The state government linked the figure to UDISE+ data and placed the primary dropout rate at 2.21% in 2013-14 before it reached zero in 2025-26.

17. Krishna AchutaRao, an Indian climate scientist and professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, died at the age of 62 on 4th September 2026 after a prolonged illness. He joined IIT Delhi in 2007 and worked there for nearly two decades in teaching, research, and academic administration.

18. A state-of-the-art virtual museum on Sri Aurobindo was unveiled on 4th September 2026 at the India Space in Bharat Nivas, Auroville, during commemorations linked to his 150th birth anniversary. The project was developed as a joint initiative of the Auroville Foundation, the Puducherry Government and the Union Ministry of Culture, and it was executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

19. Buellia maharajensis, a new saxicolous lichen species, was discovered in Mathikettan Shola National Park in Idukki district, Kerala. The species was recorded at an elevation of about 1,351 metres and was named in tribute to Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, on its 150th anniversary.

20. Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal was appointed as the 44th regular Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court on 5th September 2026. He was serving as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court before the appointment, and the Central Government also cleared his name in a wider order that named eight new chief justices for different High Courts in India.

21. The Central Government of India notified the appointment of eight Chief Justices to different High Courts on 5th September 2026. President Droupadi Murmu approved the appointments under the Constitution of India after consultation with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and the Supreme Court Collegium.

22. The Supreme Court of India has directed the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to file a scientifically justified and clearly defined timeline for the second phase of Front-of-Package Labelling (FoPL) on packaged foods. The matter concerns warning labels for products high in fat, sugar, or salt, and the next hearing has been fixed for 28th September.

23. The Government of India sold about 4,000 tonnes of buffer onions across 17 cities during the first ten days of its subsidised retail intervention in 2026. The central buffer stock for the year 2026 stands at 1.21 lakh tonnes, and the onions are being sold at Rs. 35 per kg in selected price-sensitive markets.

24. Indore Metro Priority Corridor-2 was inaugurated on 5th September 2026 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The inauguration covered Phase-I (Reach-II) of the metro project and marked the opening of an 11 km corridor from Super Corridor-3 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, also known as Radisson Hotel Chowraha.

25. The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) of India crossed a cumulative Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) disbursement of Rs. 200 crore on 5th September 2026. The NBA functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and implements ABS payments linked to the use of biological resources.

26. The Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, launched the India Valve Registry on 5th September 2026 at the India Valves 2026 conference in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The registry is a multicentre national database for secure and de-identified collection of real-world data on patient outcomes in heart valve interventions.

27. The Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) launched the third phase of underwater archaeological exploration off Poompuhar, also known as Kaveripoompattinam, in Mayiladuthurai district on 6th September 2026. The project is being carried out with the Indian Maritime University and covers an underwater zone linked to the ancient Sangam-era port city.

28. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated a national workshop titled "From Crisis to Recovery - Conserving India's Vultures" in Panchkula, Haryana, on 6th September 2026. The workshop was held to mark International Vulture Awareness Day and brought together institutions involved in vulture conservation, breeding, and wildlife management.

29. The 16th National Meet of State Biodiversity Boards and Union Territory Biodiversity Councils was held in Chandigarh on 6th - 7th September 2026. The two-day meeting was organised by the National Biodiversity Authority to discuss biodiversity governance, local implementation, and conservation-related institutional mechanisms in India.

30. Southern Railway has achieved 100% electrification of its Broad Gauge network, covering 5,068 route kilometres. The milestone was completed after electrification of the final 71-km Pattukkottai-Karaikkudi section in Tamil Nadu.

31. The 28th Western Zonal Council meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Panaji, Goa, on 7th September 2026. The meeting was organised under the Inter-State Council Secretariat and included leaders from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

32. Malayalam filmmaker, screenwriter and government officer R. Sarath died on 7th September 2026 at KIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was associated with Malayalam cinema, documentary work and the Kerala government's Information and Public Relations Department.

33. The inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) began on 7th September 2026 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The four-day festival, themed "Rang-e-Cinema", is scheduled from 7th September to 10th September 2026.

34. The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organised Swachh Vayu Diwas 2026 in New Delhi on 7th September 2026 and conferred the 5th Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan Awards. The event marked the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies and recognised cities and wards under the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan framework.

35. The Union Health Ministry issued a draft gazette notification on 8th September 2026 proposing amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945, with changes centred on Rule 65. The draft proposes mandatory Closed-Circuit Television surveillance at medical premises that supply prescription medicines in India.

36. The Odisha Forest Department rescued five young orangutans from the Ranakotha Protected Reserved Forest in the Bhograi block of Balasore district on 8th September 2026. The rescued primates included three males and two females, and officials transferred them to Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar for quarantine and care.

37. Akasa Air operated its first commercial flight with conventional aviation turbine fuel blended with 1% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on 8th September 2026. The SAF blend was supplied by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a public sector undertaking in India. The flight operated between Mumbai and Goa on the same day.

38. A rare leafless orchid species, Gastrodia keyiensis, has been recorded from the Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh. The species was formally described in Phytotaxa on 9th September 2026 after a botanical survey in a remote gorge along the Keyi River at about 1,000 metres elevation.

39. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs proposed a new constitutional provision, described as Chapter K under Article 371, for Ladakh on 9th September 2026 in a sub-committee meeting in New Delhi. The proposal relates to a directly elected Union Territory-level governing body for Ladakh and to subjects such as land, culture, language, forests, environment, and other matters linked with Article 240 of the Constitution.

40. Delhi ranked first in the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025 with an overall score of 84. The index was developed by NITI Aayog in collaboration with WRI India and assesses electric mobility across transport electrification, charging infrastructure, and research and innovation.

41. Solomon Pappaiah, born Sundaram Solomon Pappaiah on 22nd February 1936, died on 11th September 2026 in Madurai at the age of 90. He was a Tamil scholar, orator, professor, and cultural figure associated with Tamil literature, debate programmes, and public speaking.

42. The Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project recorded its 41st tunnel breakthrough on 11th September 2026 with the completion of Escape Tunnel-1. The 125-km railway line is being developed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited under the Ministry of Railways at an estimated cost of Rs. 37,000 crore, and its target date for completion is December 2029.

43. A healthy Badri female calf was born on 11th September 2026 through Ovum Pick-Up and In Vitro Fertilisation (OPU-IVF) technology at the Academic Dairy Farm of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The work formed part of a three-year research programme involving ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.

44. Kumik village in Zanskar was declared Ladakh's first designated Heritage Village on 15th September 2026. The declaration was made by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, during the launch of the Ladakh Zanskar Festival 2026.

45. India's 51st Doppler Weather Radar was inaugurated at Sambalpur in Odisha on 16th September 2026. A Doppler Weather Radar is a meteorological instrument that uses the Doppler effect to measure the movement of precipitation particles and wind within clouds. It is used for short-range weather monitoring, storm tracking, and rainfall estimation.

46. India initiated its first direct benefit transfer payments for soil carbon credits on 16th - 17th September 2026 to more than 2,500 smallholder farmers in Punjab and Haryana. The payments totalled over Rs. 2.9 crore and were linked to verified carbon credits generated through regenerative farming practices under the Aadi farmer carbon programme.

47. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the India Net Zero Portal and the National Action Plan on Climate Change Dashboard on 16th September 2026 in Mumbai. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh launched the two digital platforms on World Ozone Day 2026.

48. The Central Government reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members on 16th September 2026. The reconstitution was made under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, and Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024. The new board took effect immediately and will function for three years or until further orders.

49. Coimbatore International Airport in Tamil Nadu has a Rs. 2,200-crore expansion master plan that received approval from NITI Aayog on 16th September 2026. The project is awaiting final approval from the Cabinet Committee on Expenditure, and the land requirement for the expansion has already been met.

50. Assam had 3,260 one-horned rhinoceroses as of September 2026, and this figure formed about 80% of the global population of the greater one-horned rhinoceros. The global population reached 4,075 individuals in 2026, while India had an estimated 3,323 rhinos and Nepal had around 752.

51. Project Cheetah completed four years on 17th September 2026. India's cheetah population under the project stands at 52, including 32 cheetahs born in India. The animals are located in Kuno National Park and Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh.

52. The Maha Kumbabishekam of the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, was held on 17th September 2026 after a gap of 17 years. The previous Kumbabishekam of the temple took place in April 2009. The main consecration rites began at about 7:40 am, followed by rituals at the Amman Moolasthanam at 7:55 am and the Sundareswarar Moolasthanam at 8:10 am.

53. Ladakh inaugurated twin flower fields at Choglamsar and Stakna in Leh on 17th September 2026. The fields stand at 10,600 feet, or about 3,265 metres, and are described as the world's highest-altitude flower fields. The altitude of 10,600 feet places the project in a high-altitude cold desert region with short growing seasons and low temperatures.

54. The Ministry of External Affairs has notified the Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026, which amend the Passports Rules, 1980. The rules were published in the Gazette of India on 17th September 2026 and came into force on the same day. The amendment changes the validity period and fee structure for passport services for children below 15 years.

55. Flight Lieutenant Alfred Tyrone Cooke, a Vir Chakra awardee of the Indian Air Force, died on 18th September 2026 at Base Hospital, New Delhi, at the age of 87. He was known for an air engagement during the 1965 Indo-Pak War over Kalaikunda in West Bengal, where he flew a Hawker Hunter against Pakistani Sabre jets.

56. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiated three adjudication cases against Nestle India on 18th September 2026 over alleged non-compliance linked to infant nutrition products. Two cases concern promotional claims for NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and Lactogen Pro 1, while one case concerns a follow-up formula sample found sub-standard for biotin content during laboratory analysis.

57. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) strengthened its framework on Unsolicited Commercial Communications (UCC) on 18th September 2026 in New Delhi. The amended rules bring AI-based detection of suspected spam, a consumer appeal mechanism, and new compliance duties for telecom service providers and entities using automated calling systems.

58. The Karnataka Cabinet approved Tulu as the state's second additional administrative language for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on 18th September 2026. The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru, and the government fixed an annual allocation of Rs. 82 lakh for translation and training linked to administrative use of Tulu.

60. A rare leucistic Great Cormorant was spotted at Ameenpur Lake near BHEL in Hyderabad on 19th September 2026. The bird had unusually pale feathers, while the Great Cormorants around it showed the species usual dark plumage. The sighting was documented with photographs by Raghuvamsh Chavali, a Hyderabad-born Canadian birder.

61. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day International Conference on "The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics" on 19th September 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) organised the conference on 19th and 20th September 2026.

62. A three-year-old female cheetah named CCB-2, originally from Botswana, was released into a protected enclosure at Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh on 20th September 2026. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav renamed the cheetah "Radha" during the release, which coincided with Radha Ashtami.

63. Delhi's Town Hall complex in Chandni Chowk is set for redevelopment as a Global Heritage Centre under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 20th September 2026. The agreement covers the 160-year-old Grade-I heritage complex, which includes the Press Building and an adjoining park spread over about 12,180 square metres.

64. Padma Shri awardee Dr. G. Vijayaraghavan died on 20th September 2026 at the age of 84 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was a cardiologist, the founder and vice-chairman of KIMS Healthcare, and a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2009 for contributions to medical sciences.

65. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) issued an advisory on 21st September 2026 on fraudulent SIM card issuance, misuse of telecom identifiers, and tampering with International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. The advisory refers to penalties under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, which provides for imprisonment of up to three years and fines of up to Rs. 50 lakh for specified violations.

66. Namibian cheetah Gaurav, a 10-year-old male, died at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on 21st September 2026 at around 4 p.m. He had been under treatment in a Quarantine Boma at Palpur for about 10 days after forest officials found him weak and dull on 12th September 2026.

67. The Indian government has amended the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 to require origin-based symbols on selected personal care products. The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Fourth Amendment Rules, 2026 were notified on 21st September 2026 and came into force on publication in the Official Gazette.

68. The 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 will be inaugurated by Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on 22nd September 2026 at the Plenary Hall of Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The five-day conference will be held from 22nd to 26th September 2026 with the theme "Climate Resilient Water Management".

69. A weather system over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression on 22nd September 2026. The India Meteorological Department forecast that it would cross the north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur during the night of 23rd September to the early hours of 24th September 2026.

70. A new parasitic wasp species, Oxyserphus narendrani, was discovered on 22nd September 2026 in Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in Assam. The species was identified by scientists from the Zoological Survey of India through microscopic characters, including a single horizontal groove on the thorax, a shorter ovipositor sheath, and a distinctive wing spot.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiated penal action on 23rd September 2026 against Amazon, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Flipkart India and Zepto for alleged violations of food safety rules. The action covered misleading claims, misbranding, non-compliant product information, and the online sale of prohibited or poisonous food articles.

74. The Supreme Court on 23rd September 2026 referred petitions challenging the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023, to a five-judge Constitution Bench. The petitions question the law governing the appointment process of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners in India.

75. The Supreme Court Collegium approved the appointment of 12 additional judges as permanent judges in four High Courts on 23rd September 2026. The recommendation covered the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Gauhati.

76. A new checklist of the flowering plants of the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve in South India has recorded 3,261 species, 26 subspecies, and 28 varieties. The checklist was compiled by the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute in Thiruvananthapuram and published in Plant Science Today in September 2026.

77. Maruti Suzuki India Limited commissioned its first Green Hydrogen (GH₂) electrolyser plant at its Manesar facility in Haryana on 24th September 2026. The plant has a capacity of 300 kW and functions as a pilot project for green hydrogen production and use in manufacturing operations.

78. Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan died at the age of 56 on 24th September 2026 in Mumbai. He died at Nanavati Hospital after about 15 days of hospitalisation. Khan worked in Hindi films and television and appeared in films such as Welcome, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Aashiqui, Hera Pheri, Jodi No. 1, Gadar 2, Badhaai Do, and Stree 2.

79. Dr. Anand Pandurangi, a psychiatrist and Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee, died on 24th September 2026 at a private hospital in Dharwad, Karnataka. He was 74 years old, and the reported cause of death was a severe heart attack. His final rites were performed with full state honours at the Hosayallapur crematorium in Dharwad.

80. Red Bull moved the Delhi High Court on 25th September 2026 against a 30th June 2026 order of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that directed the removal of the "Energy Drink" label from its products. The case was heard on 28th September 2026 before Justice Amit Mahajan, who asked whether a show-cause notice or hearing had been given before the order was issued.

81. The Inception Workshop for the 6th Cycle of Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Tiger Reserves (MEE-TR) in India was launched in New Delhi on 25th September 2026. The workshop was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, and the cycle will assess all 58 tiger reserves in the country.

82. Paradip Port was designated as a "Mega Port" on 25th September 2026 under Section 73 of the Indian Ports Act, 2025. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways granted the status after an assessment of structural and operational capabilities against prescribed benchmarks.

83. Maharashtra declared 265 of its 358 talukas drought-affected on 26th September 2026. The affected talukas account for about 74% of the state's total landmass. The declaration followed a rainfall deficit of 18.8% between 1st June and 18th September 2026 and a two-month monsoon break linked with El Nino conditions.

84. India's Kaveri dry engine programme reached a major development stage in September 2026 when the engine recorded a peak dry thrust of 48.5 kilonewtons during high-altitude and flight trials in Russia. The engine, also called the Kaveri Derivative Engine, is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation's Gas Turbine Research Establishment in Bengaluru for the planned Ghatak stealth Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle.

85. India's first LNG-powered train was flagged off on 27th September 2026 from Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The train uses a diesel-plus-LNG dual-fuel system and runs with two 1,400 HP Driving Power Cars converted at the Sabarmati Integrated Coaching Depot.

Trinidad and Tobago is set to become the first Caribbean nation to adopt India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a real-time digital payments system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India. The project involves a real-time payments platform modelled on UPI and is linked to technical cooperation between NPCI International Payments Limited and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Trinidad and Tobago.

34. A yellow-bellied sea snake washed ashore at Crystal Cove in Orange County, California, in September 2026. It was the first reported appearance of the venomous species in the state since 2018. The species is an ocean-dwelling reptile that usually lives in tropical and subtropical waters.

69. India participated in the 14th East Asia Summit Economic Ministers Meeting and the 23rd ASEAN-India Economic Ministers Consultation in Manila, Philippines, from 22nd to 24th September 2026. The Indian delegation was led by Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Nitin Kumar Yadav, and the meetings included ASEAN members and EAS partners such as India, Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Korea, Russia, and the United States.

70. The United Kingdom announced its first military space squadron on 23rd September 2026. The unit is named No. III Space Effects Squadron and will protect satellites, counter hostile activity in orbit, and support offensive and defensive space operations.

71. The BRICS Heads of Tax Authorities Meeting was held in New Delhi on 23rd September 2026 as the concluding event of India's Chairship of the BRICS tax cooperation track. Researchers at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi developed India's first working and demonstrable indigenous micro-Graphics Processing Unit (micro-GPU) on 24th - 25th September 2026. The project was led by M.Tech students Nammi Akash and M. Ravi Teja under Professor Jayadeva and Professor Kaushik Saha.

76. India has reserved its third-party rights in the World Trade Organization dispute concerning the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The dispute was taken up by the WTO Dispute Settlement Body in Geneva on 25th September 2026, when it agreed to Russia's request for a panel.

77. India and Liberia launched the "Group of Friends on Safety & Security of Shipping & Seafarers" in New York on 25th September 2026. The initiative was announced during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, and India and Liberia will serve as co-chairs of the group.

The Pentagon awarded Boeing a contract worth more than $20 billion on 29th September 2026 for the full-scale development phase of the United States Navy's next-generation fighter jet, designated F/A-XX. The programme is part of the Navy's Next Generation Air Dominance system and is intended to support future carrier-based air combat capability.

83. India and Qatar agreed on 30th September 2026 to accelerate discussions on a Bilateral Investment Treaty and a Free Trade Agreement. 88. The BRICS Theatre Festival 2026 will be held in New Delhi from 12th to 14th October 2026. The Ministry of Culture, India, will organise the three-day festival during India's BRICS Presidency 2026. The festival will open at the National School of Drama on 12th October 2026.

Defence

1. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the annual performance review of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) at DPSU Bhawan in New Delhi on 1st September 2026. The review covered production, profitability, exports, indigenisation, and modernisation plans for India's defence manufacturing sector.

2. Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb, AVSM, VSM, assumed charge as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) of the Indian Air Force on 1st September 2026. The appointment followed the superannuation of Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia on 31st August 2026 after 39 years of service in the Indian Air Force.

3. India has taken up a proposal to modify the Indian Air Force's Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft for integration with the Russian-origin RVV-BD air-to-air missile. The proposal covers changes to the aircraft's radar, avionics, and weapons management software for operational use.

Drogo Aerospace Pvt Ltd and Munitions India Limited (MIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Pune on 4th September 2026 for cooperation in indigenous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and loitering munition systems. The agreement covers design, development, integration, safety evaluation, field trials, range trials, and quality certification of munition-linked aerial platforms.

9. The Indian Army has set up AASHVAST, a software analysis and validation laboratory at the Directorate General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (DG EME) headquarters in New Delhi. The facility is designed to scan military drones and other electronic systems for hidden software threats, unauthorised components, and security vulnerabilities.

10. The term "BrahMos Belt" refers to a proposed network of coastal supersonic cruise missile deployments by Southeast Asian states around the South China Sea. The BrahMos missile is a joint India-Russia weapon system, and its shore-based variant has been supplied to the Philippines under a contract valued at $375 million.

Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) emerged as the lowest bidder, or L1, in the Ministry of Defence competition for the Armoured Fighting Vehicle-Indian Light Tank (AFV-ILT) programme under Project Zorawar. The contract value is about Rs. 20,000 crore, and the project involves the development of a 25-tonne class light tank for the Indian Army.

14. The Indian Air Force (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team arrived in Egypt on 6th September 2026 for the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow. The airshow is scheduled from 8th to 10th September 2026 at El Alamein International Airport in Egypt.

15. On 7th September 2026, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals worth about Rs. 1.10 lakh crore. The Ministry of Defence stated that around 98% of the procurement value will come from the domestic Indian industry under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework.

16. INS Udaygiri, an indigenously built multi-role stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at Colombo Port, Sri Lanka, on 8th September 2026 for a three-day operational turnaround. The visit coincided with the official visit of Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Colombo from 8th to 10th September 2026.

17. India and Morocco held the inaugural meeting of their Joint Defence Committee (JDC) in New Delhi on 8th September 2026. The meeting created a formal bilateral mechanism for defence cooperation between the two countries under a Defence Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2025.

18. The Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defence Force will conduct Veer Guardian-2026, a bilateral air defence exercise, at Air Force Station Jodhpur in Rajasthan. India's nuclear arsenal has been estimated at 190 warheads in 2026 by two major international assessments, the Federation of American Scientists and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. It involves Indian Army and United States Army personnel in integrated field training across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

28. Indian Navy's guided missile frigate INS Trishul completed a three-day port call at Alexandria, Egypt, on 17th September 2026. Before entering Alexandria harbour, the ship conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Egyptian Naval Ship Bernees, and the vessel was escorted into the harbour by Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer on 14th September 2026.

29. The 43rd Indian Coast Guard Commanders Conference begins in New Delhi on 17th September 2026 and continues for three days until 19th September 2026. The conference is being held at the Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi and brings together senior commanders of the Indian Coast Guard for discussions on operational, strategic and administrative matters.

30. The United States State Department approved the potential sale of 48 F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters to Saudi Arabia on 17th September 2026. The proposed package is valued at about $24.3 billion and includes 48 F-35A aircraft, 49 Pratt & Whitney F135 engines, support equipment, and training.

31. The 13th edition of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise, SLINEX-26, was held from 17th to 21st September 2026 in Visakhapatnam, India. The exercise involved the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy and was conducted under the aegis of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.

32. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is scheduled to hand over LCA Tejas Final Operational Clearance (FOC) twin-seater trainer aircraft and HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on 18th September 2026 in Bengaluru. The event will also include delivery of Dhruv Next Generation helicopters to Pawan Hans Limited.

33. Cochin Shipyard Limited laid the keel for the first of six Next Generation Missile Vessels for the Indian Navy in Kochi on 18th September 2026. The keel-laying ceremony was performed by Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition at the Integrated Headquarters, Indian Navy.

34. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called for an integrated civil-military aerospace ecosystem in Bengaluru on 18th September 2026. He linked the proposal with indigenous capability in aircraft design, avionics, propulsion, composite materials, flight control systems, manufacturing, and certification.

35. Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Kulish arrived at Subic Bay in the Philippines on 20th September 2026 for the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus Joint Cooperation Activity. The deployment forms part of the Indian Navy's operational presence in the Indo-Pacific region and includes participation in maritime security-related engagements.

36. The Ministry of Defence signed a Rs. 586 crore contract on 21st September 2026 for the procurement of indigenously developed Auxiliary Power Units for the Indian Army's T-72 and T-90 Main Battle Tanks. 37. The 18th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2026 began on 21st September 2026 at the Foreign Training Node in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. 38. INS Trishul (F43), a guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at the Toulon naval base in France on 22nd September 2026 for the 24th edition of the India-France bilateral maritime exercise Varuna. The exercise series began in 1983 and received the name "Varuna" in 2001.

39. The Ministry of Defence signed a Rs. 810.79 crore contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited on 23rd September 2026 for 160 Satellite Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force in New Delhi. The procurement falls under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category and covers an air-to-ground precision-guided glide bomb system.

40. INS Sudarshini, the Indian Navy's sail training ship, arrived at Alexandria in Egypt on 23rd September 2026 during the Lokayan 26 transoceanic expedition. The port call was the ship's second visit to Alexandria during the same deployment.

41. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh flagged-in the First Ascent Mountaineering Expedition in New Delhi on 25th September 2026. The expedition recorded the first-ever summits of 20 unclimbed peaks above 6,000 metres in Ladakh in 23 days.

44. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) seized about 526 kg of narcotics in the Arabian Sea west of Lakshadweep on 25th September 2026. The operation was conducted with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and led to the interception of an Iranian dhow carrying high-grade heroin and methamphetamine. 47. Odisha-based BonV Aero supplied 45 heavy-payload Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to the Indian Army's Eastern Command on 28th September 2026. The UAVs are meant for tactical logistics and mission-specific operations in Northeast India, where terrain, weather, and limited road access affect surface movement.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled PRAHAAR, which stands for Policy for Response Against Hostile Activities and Radicalism, as India's first national counter-terrorism policy and strategy on 23rd February 2026. 2. The 366-metre container vessel MSC Beryl departed from Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala on 1st September 2026 for Valencia, Spain. The vessel carried Vizhinjam's first export consignment of eight containers, including packaged food products from Thiruvananthapuram and seafood from Kochi.

3. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) released a consultation paper on 1st September 2026 for a proposed Public Insurance Registry (PIR). The PIR is planned as an interoperable digital public infrastructure for the insurance sector in India.

The order followed an onsite inspection that began in September 2019 and later led to show cause notices issued on 8th July 2024 and 17th December 2024.

16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai on 8th September 2026. He called for the Indian fintech sector to expand beyond payment processing and the Unified Payments Interface into credit, insurance, savings, investments, and pensions.

17. Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) has announced plans to import 3-4 lakh tonnes of non-urea fertilisers for the rabi season, which begins in October in many parts of India. The planned imports mainly cover phosphatic fertilisers such as Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and NPK fertilisers.

18. The Karnataka Cabinet approved the Karnataka Aerospace Policy 2026-2031 on 9th September 2026. The policy covers aerospace, defence, aviation, and space research and development, and it seeks to expand the sector beyond Bengaluru. The state government set an investment target of Rs. 60,000 crore over five years.

19. India's semiconductor market is projected to expand from about USD 64 billion in 2026 to USD 200 billion by 2035, while another estimate places the market at USD 300 billion by 2035. 20. India's Department of Consumer Affairs notified the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 on 10th September 2026. The amended rules will replace the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 from 1st January 2027 and apply to e-commerce marketplaces and other online platforms operating in India.

21. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) welcomed India's efforts to modernise its macroeconomic statistical framework on 10th September 2026 in Washington. The IMF said that the inclusion of a new Index of Industrial Production (IIP) series and a new Producer Price Index (PPI) series in the national accounts release can improve the accuracy of India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates. India has also updated its GDP calculation series by adopting 2022-23 as the new base year.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) imposed a monetary penalty of Rs. 1 crore on IndusInd Bank for non-compliance with insurance-related grievance redressal and reporting requirements. 23. Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh is set to host Asia's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) with an estimated investment of Rs. 5,500 crore. The project has received investment proposals from 24 companies and is projected to create more than 18,000 direct jobs.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a consultation paper on 12th September 2026 on changes to the Closing Auction Session (CAS) framework and derivatives settlement methodology. The proposal covers expiry-day settlement for futures and options (F&O) stocks, market timings, and price-discovery mechanisms in the Indian securities market.

25. Fujifilm has announced a greenfield semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in India with a total investment of about Rs. 800 crore, or around USD 83 million. The project will be implemented in two phases, with Phase 1 scheduled to begin in October 2026 and commercial production expected in fiscal year 2028.

26. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) announced on 15th September 2026 a plan to invest about Rs. 27,000 crore in a greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Dighi in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The project is linked to a Memorandum of Understanding with National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra Ltd (NSHIPML) and is designed as a large industrial shipbuilding facility.

27. The United States Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points on 16th September 2026. The Federal Open Market Committee voted 12-0 to lift the federal funds target range to 3.75% to 4.00%.

28. India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) approved applications from seven companies to import 642 cars from Britain on 16th September 2026. The allocation was made under the tariff rate quota (TRQ) provisions of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which came into effect on 15th July 2026.

29. Lam Research announced on 16th September 2026 an investment of about Rs. 10,000 crore, or around US$1.04 billion, in India over several years. The plan covers the company's first silicon component manufacturing facility in India and an expansion of its advanced research and development operations in Bengaluru.

30. The World Economic Forum released the Global Gender Gap Index 2026 on 16th September 2026. India ranked 131st among 145 countries in the index, and its position remained unchanged from the previous edition. It measures gender parity across four dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.

31. India is considering a reduction in import duties on vegetable oils in 2026 to contain rising domestic prices and to moderate food inflation during the September-November festive season. Vegetable oils are a major component of India's food basket, and the country meets nearly two-thirds of its demand through imports.

33. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a 3,200 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Chapar in Dhubri district, lower Assam, on 20th September 2026. The project is being developed by Adani Power Limited with an estimated investment of Rs. 48,000 crore and is planned as the largest power plant in the North-East region.

34. India has set a target of 60,000 metric tonnes of silk production by 2030-31, with an aim to become the world's largest silk producer by 2028-29. The target was announced at the 77th Foundation Day of the Central Silk Board in Bengaluru on 21st September 2026, and the current annual production stands at 42,000 metric tonnes, up from 26,000 metric tonnes in 2014.

35. Stellantis India acquired the remaining stake held by Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Ltd. in Stellantis Automobiles India Private Limited on 21st September 2026. The transaction gave Stellantis full ownership of the Tiruvallur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and placed the plant under complete control of Stellantis Automobiles India Private Limited.

36. Indian Oil Corporation approved an investment of Rs. 2,448.70 crore for the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline project on 21st September 2026. The pipeline will cover 424.65 kilometres and connect Kochi in Kerala with Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu through the Kanyakumari region.

37. The Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) received operational credit guarantee cover on 22nd September 2026 for financing of micro and small enterprise receivables. The mechanism allows eligible financiers on TReDS platforms to obtain guarantee support from the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) for receivables linked to unpaid invoices.

38. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called for an economic shift from "Made in India" to "Imagined in India" on 22nd September 2026 at the 53rd National Management Convention of the All India Management Association in New Delhi. The phrase refers to products that are conceived, designed, and technologically developed in India before being manufactured and marketed globally.

39. India is preparing a new National Steel Policy with a target of more than 600 million tonnes of steelmaking capacity and over 500 million tonnes of steel consumption by 2047. The project includes a new iron ore processing plant at Bacheli, a 15 million tonne per annum slurry pipeline, and a 2 million tonne per annum pellet plant at Nagarnar.

48. India's first blue bond issue is scheduled for launch on 28th September 2026 by Sagarmala Finance Corporation, a state-owned maritime lender. The proposed issue size is Rs. 600 crore, with a greenshoe option of Rs. 500 crore, and the bonds have a tenor of 10 years.

49. India's first port-based e-methanol production facility is being developed at Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla, Gujarat. The feature allows account holders to schedule automatic transfers of digital rupees, or e₹, to a beneficiary's CBDC wallet at a fixed amount and frequency.

52. Rapidise announced on 29th September 2026 an expansion of its electronics manufacturing operations in Manesar, Haryana. The company plans to invest about Rs. 200 crore under a three-year investment plan, and the project is expected to increase its overall production capacity in Manesar by four times.

53. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi on 29th September 2026. The agreement covers the development and strengthening of the Statistical Business Register and the National Statistical Business Register.

54. India fixed a foodgrain production target of 373.93 million tonnes for the 2026-27 crop year on 29th September 2026. 2. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) in Chennai and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (UNESCO MGIEP) signed a cooperation agreement on 1st September 2026 to develop next-generation AI and immersive learning technologies.

3. Lakkundi in Gadag district of Karnataka is the site of a six-month LiDAR survey and geospatial mapping project under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Karnataka, and the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru. The project uses non-invasive digital tools to locate buried structures linked to the Kalyana-Chalukya era, which dates to the 10th to 12th centuries CE.

4. Apollyon Dynamics, a defence technology startup incubated at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, entered the India Book of Records on 1st September 2026 for developing India's fastest multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted accelerated approval to AstraZeneca's Etcamah, also known as camizestrant, on 4th September 2026 for adults with advanced or metastatic hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer with an ESR1 mutation. 39. Scientists from the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) identified a new conger eel species from the deep waters of the Arabian Sea on 16th September 2026. The service covers semiconductor engineering, Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) design, hardware-software co-design, and system validation for custom silicon development.

42. Leopardus tilcayo is a newly identified living feline species from Bolivia. The species was formally described on 17th September 2026, and it is the first new living cat species identified in more than 100 years. The animal is locally known as "tilcayo" and belongs to the tiger cat group.

43. Astronomers have confirmed Elias 2-24 b as the youngest known planet, with an estimated age of less than 1 million years as of 17th September 2026. The planet orbits Elias 2-24, a star located about 450 light-years from Earth, and it remains embedded in the dusty gas-and-debris disk from which it formed.

44. SEMICON India 2026 is being held from 17th to 19th September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, also called the India International Convention and Expo Centre, in Dwarka, New Delhi. The fifth edition of SEMICON India was inaugurated on 17th September 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the event covered India's semiconductor policy, manufacturing, and design ecosystem.

45. Tata Electronics announced multiple Memoranda of Understanding at Semicon India 2026 on 17th - 18th September 2026 for semiconductor manufacturing, materials supply, infrastructure support, packaging, and workforce development. The partnerships are linked to Tata Electronics facilities at Dholera in Gujarat and Jagiroad in Assam, which are part of India's expanding semiconductor ecosystem.

46. Odisha has announced an 870-acre "Odisha Silicon Valley" project at Naraj near Cuttack for semiconductor, electronics, and information technology industries. The plan was announced during SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi, and the site lies close to the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar urban corridor and the Mahanadi River.

47. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) discovered natural gas in the deep waters of the Mahanadi Basin off India's east coast on 18th September 2026. The find was made at the MDW-28 (MN-DW18-1-H-D) exploration well, about 43 km off Konark in Odisha, and it is the first well under ONGC's current deepwater exploration campaign in the basin.

48. L&T Semiconductor Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, unveiled its first silicon carbide (SiC) product platform on 18th September 2026 at SEMICON India 2026. 49. Scientists have identified a population of cells called DARE cells that begin programmed cell death, or apoptosis, but survive and help rebuild damaged tissue. The discovery was made at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and was published in Nature Communications on 18th September 2026.

50. Karnataka approved a five-year Marine Biotechnology Policy for 2026-2031 on 18th September 2026. The policy aims to expand the state's Blue Bioeconomy, increase marine biotechnology-based enterprise, and create institutional and industrial infrastructure along the Karnataka coast.

51. Anthropic and Accenture announced a partnership on 18th September 2026 for the independent evaluation of frontier AI models. Each company has committed at least 1 billion over five years, taking the total investment to 2 billion for AI model evaluation capacity.

52. NASA expanded its Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) contract with SpaceX on 18th September 2026 through a 946 million modification. The revised agreement adds three more crewed Dragon flights, named Crew-15, Crew-16 and Crew-17, for missions to the International Space Station (ISS). The total value of SpaceX's CCtCap contract has risen to about 5.92 billion, and the contract period runs through 2030.

53. The United Nations appointed U.S. agriculture official Luke Lindberg as the new Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) on 18th September 2026. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad, will use ocean modelling, satellite remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools to identify, monitor and forecast marine litter hotspots. The initiative is linked to the National Initiative for Remediation of Marine Litter, or NIRMaL Sagar, and the pilot phase began in Visakhapatnam on 19th September 2026.

55. ASML began operations in India in September 2026 and established a legal entity in the country. The company is also setting up a customer support office in India and plans to hire 20 to 30 young engineering graduates in the initial phase. ASML is a Dutch company known for lithography systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.

56. A study based on historical magnetic observations from the Trivandrum Astronomical Observatory has provided new data on the 1859 Carrington Event, a geomagnetic storm of 19th-century solar-terrestrial science. The research was published in Astrophysics and Space Science on 20th September 2026 and was led by R. Jayakrishnan, Head of the Department of Physics and Honorary Director of the observatory.

57. The foundation stone for the Indian Space Research Organisation's Advanced Radar Research Centre was laid at Chandrapur near Guwahati in Assam on 21st September 2026. The centre is being developed under Project NETRA, which stands for Network for Space Object Tracking and Analysis, and it is linked to India's space situational awareness framework.

60. Researchers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) announced a method on 21st September 2026 to convert polyethylene plastic into gasoline-like and diesel-like fuels. The process uses aluminium-based molten salts as both the reaction medium and the catalyst, and it operates below 200 degrees Celsius.

61. Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. announced a DCGI-approved triple therapy combikit for adults with Helicobacter pylori infection on 21st September 2026. The combikit contains Vonoprazan 20 mg, Clarithromycin 500 mg, and Amoxicillin 1000 mg, and it is prescribed as a twice-daily regimen for 14 days.

62. Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc., based in Alabama, initiated a voluntary nationwide recall of one lot of Thyroid Tablets, USP 30 mg on 21st August 2026. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as Class I on 22nd September 2026, which is the highest risk category used for recalls in the United States.

63. Anthropic announced on 23rd - 24th September 2026 that its Claude AI model identified a previously unknown enzyme system called array-associated reverse transcriptases (ART). The system was found in bacteriophages, which are viruses that infect bacteria, and the finding was produced through analysis of DNA sequence data by Claude-powered software agents.

64. A new human brain-cell atlas mapped gene activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex across the human lifespan. The study analysed nuclei from more than 6.3 million brain cells taken from 1,494 deceased donors aged from infancy to 108 years and included donors with and without diagnosed brain conditions.

65. A new Begonia species, Begonia neelamorum, was formally described from Keyi Panyor district in Arunachal Pradesh on 24th September 2026. The species was collected on 24th May 2026 from steep, moist walls along the Keyi River at an elevation of about 1,000 metres.

66. India launched the commercial use of bio-based biodegradable plastic based on Polylactic Acid (PLA) on 24th September 2026 in New Delhi. The initiative is being implemented by Balrampur Chini Mills Limited under the BioE3 framework, which stands for Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment.

67. The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, signed an agreement on 24th September 2026 with Bengaluru-based GalaxEye Space Solutions Private Limited. The agreement provides financial support of Rs. 63.84 crore under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund for a project with a total approved cost of Rs. 247.69 crore.

68. The Defence Research and Development Organisation signed its first high-value deep-tech project agreement under the Technology Development Fund scheme on 24th September 2026. The agreement was signed with Zero mK India Private Limited, an Alwar-based startup, for the indigenous development of a 20 mK dilution refrigerator for quantum applications.

69. Hyderabad-based TakeMe2Space plans to launch India's first networked orbital data centre mission in 2028. The mission will use two 100-kilogram MOI (My Orbital Infrastructure) constellation satellites and a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch under the Waymaker 2 rideshare mission.

70. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) launched an integrated Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) platform and a dedicated mobile application in New Delhi on 25th September 2026. The platform rates and certifies in-building mobile and internet connectivity in residential, commercial, and government properties.

71. On 25th September 2026, astronomers announced new findings on X-ray emission from blazars, which are active galactic nuclei powered by supermassive black holes. The study was led by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital, an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India.

72. The India Mobile Congress 2026 launched Viksit Tech 47 on 25th September 2026 as a platform for identifying and supporting Indian technology companies and leaders. 74. Two Pakistani pilots, Zeeshan Ali and Khurram Daud, are undergoing astronaut training in China for a mission to the Tiangong space station in September 2026. One of them will become Pakistan's first astronaut and the first foreign national to travel aboard China's Tiangong space station.

The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) launched five popular science magazines in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese on 26th September 2026. OpenAI disclosed on 26th September 2026 that its artificial intelligence agents interacted with several United States government websites during an ongoing review of unanticipated model behaviour. The activity involved publicly available information on two websites operated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and data from the United States Census Bureau.

77. The second Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2026) is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 27th to 29th October 2026. 79. Scientists have identified a previously unrecognised penguin species, Pygoscelis kerguelensis, also called the southeastern gentoo penguin. The finding came from DNA analysis of gentoo penguin populations and led to the reclassification of one former species into four distinct evolutionary lineages.

80. NASA and Boeing outlined a phased return plan for the CST-100 Starliner spacecraft on 28th September 2026. The plan includes an uncrewed Starliner-1 mission, a crewed Starliner-2 mission, and possible additional flights to the International Space Station (ISS).

81. Tata Projects and Canada-based MDS Aero Support Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 28th September 2026 to develop advanced aero-engine testing infrastructure in India. The partnership covers civil works, structural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, high-air-pressure systems, HVAC, high-temperature exhaust systems, cooling-water systems, and site infrastructure for engine test facilities.

82. On 29th September 2026, President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence. The order directs federal agencies to replace the terms "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" with "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in official communications, websites, reports, and policy documents, wherever legally permitted.

83. The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on 30th September 2026 at FICCI FRAMES 2026 in Mumbai. The agreements were signed at the Grand Hyatt during the second day of the two-day event held on 29th and 30th September 2026.

Bathymyrus perplexus is a newly identified fish species from the Bay of Bengal, with scientific identification completed by the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) unit at Gopalpur on 30th September 2026. The species was first represented by a specimen collected off Paradip in 2021, and 32 specimens were recorded between 2021 and 2025 from Paradip, West Bengal, the Godavari region, and Kakinada.

85. Ahmedabad-based spacetech startup SatLeo Labs will launch its thermal-imaging satellite TAPAS-1 on 1st October 2026. The 3-kilogram payload will fly on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-18 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, United States, through Dhruva Space's LEAP-2 platform.

86. Project Suncatcher is a Google research initiative announced in November 2025 to test artificial intelligence computing infrastructure in space. The first prototype satellite, named MVP, is scheduled for launch on 1st October 2026 into low-Earth orbit aboard the SpaceX Transporter-18 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Government Schemes

1. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, launched a digital dialogue series named AyurVarta on 1st September 2026. AIIA is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, and the series was introduced ahead of the 11th Ayurveda Day, which falls on 23rd September.

2. India plans to build 100 new airports over the next 10 years under the regional connectivity framework known as UDAN. The expansion is linked to the Modified UDAN scheme, which has a central budgetary outlay of Rs. 28,840 crore for FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36.

3. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched the AICTE Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship Programme (AIEDFP) on 3rd September 2026. The programme has a projected outlay of Rs. 245 crore for five years and will support 150 PhD fellowships in innovation and entrepreneurship.

4. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy removed Konda Surekha, the State Minister for Environment, Forests and Endowments, from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect on 3rd September 2026. The same day, the Chief Minister also withdrew the appointment of G. Chinna Reddy as Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board and approved new appointments in the state administration.

5. The Department of School Education and Literacy of Karnataka announced the state-level best teacher awards for the 2026-27 academic year on 4th September 2026. The awards include school teachers, lecturers and pre-university college principals, and the presentation is scheduled for Teachers Day at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.

6. The National Steering Committee under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme approved Strategic Investment Plans worth Rs. 735.70 crore for Industrial Training Institute clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. The approval raised the total sanctioned investment under PM-SETU to Rs. 2,171 crore across nine ITI clusters.

7. Dr. Dinesh Sharma, a Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 5th September 2026. The appointment was issued by President Droupadi Murmu and took effect when he formally assumed charge of office.

8. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat 2029 roadmap in Panaji, Goa, on 6th September 2026 after a state security and narcotics review meeting with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The three-year plan covers the period 2026 to 2029 and sets targets for drug-network disruption, fugitive recovery, laboratory destruction, and demand reduction.

9. India has crossed 80 lakh Human Papillomavirus vaccine doses under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign. The campaign targets adolescent girls aged 14 and uses the single-dose Gardasil-4 vaccine in government health facilities across the country.

10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multi-sector development projects worth over Rs. 35,000 crore in Vadodara, Gujarat, on 8th September 2026. The package included railway, freight, and highway projects, along with new train services and corridor links connected to western India.

11. The Union Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited launched the first sector-wide Comprehensive CSR Framework for Indian Coal Companies on 8th September 2026 in New Delhi. The framework is the first sector-specific Corporate Social Responsibility guideline in India after the statutory CSR rules under the Companies Act, 2013.

12. The Department of Food and Public Distribution and the Food Corporation of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Financial Year 2026-27 in New Delhi on 8th September 2026. The agreement covers foodgrain management, storage efficiency, logistics, digital monitoring, and employee capacity-building in the public distribution system.

13. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved eight railway multi-tracking projects on 9th September 2026 with an estimated cost of Rs. 20,804 crore. The projects will expand the Indian Railways network by about 1,196 km and are targeted for completion by the financial year 2029-30.

14. Prasar Bharati's PB-SHABD, or Prasar Bharati - Shared Audio-Visuals for Broadcast and Dissemination, is a free multimedia news feed service for registered media organisations in India. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting launched the platform on 13th March 2024 in New Delhi, and free access has been extended until March 2027 for 3,600 media organisations.

15. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, hosted the virtual inaugural session of Skill Manthan on 9th September 2026. The national webinar series carried the theme "Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Women" and focused on district-led skilling, entrepreneurship, finance, technology, and market access.

16. On 9th September 2026, the Chhattisgarh cabinet approved the Chief Minister's Startup and NIPUN Mission with a budget of Rs. 500 crore for five years. The mission is linked with skill development, entrepreneurship, industrial preparedness, and formal employment in Chhattisgarh.

17. The Central Government of India approved a separate engineering cadre for the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) on 10th September 2026. The decision transfers 3,214 sanctioned engineering posts in 36 categories from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to the Delhi PWD Engineering Cadre.

18. The Union Minister for Rural Development launched the Operational Guidelines for the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) 3.0 on 10th September 2026 at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. DILRMP 3.0 will operate as a Central Sector Scheme from 2026 to 2031 with an approved financial outlay of Rs. 565.50 crore.

19. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways launched the One Tag system on 11th September 2026 at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. The facility allows FASTag users to switch the backend issuing bank without removing or replacing the physical sticker on the vehicle windshield.

20. Swachh Seva Aankalan (SSA) is an annual digital self-assessment framework at the Gram Panchayat level for monitoring sanitation service delivery in rural areas under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen 2.0. Union Minister for Jal Shakti C. R. Patil launched the framework on 15th September 2026 during a virtual meeting with States and Union Territories, and Minister of State for Jal Shakti V. Somanna also attended the meeting.

21. The Ministry of Steel and its Public Sector Undertakings are participating in Special Campaign 6.0, which runs from 2nd October to 31st October 2026. The campaign includes a preparatory phase from 15th September to 30th September 2026 for target identification and groundwork. E-waste management is one of the priority areas under the campaign, along with mechanised cleaning, disposal of pending references, and public awareness.

22. The National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 15th September 2026 for integrated computer labs-cum-smart classrooms in 29 functional Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Rajasthan. The project has a sanctioned budget of Rs. 16.01 crore and covers 11 districts.

23. The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration has made it mandatory for sweet shops and manufacturing establishments in the state to display a use-by date for sweets, including loose sweets, from 15th October 2026. The order applies to sweets sold in loose form and to sweets prepared in manufacturing units across Uttar Pradesh.

24. Kerala began a three-day roundtable conference under the 'Reimagining Keralam' initiative on 16th September 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram. The conference is linked to 73 major projects announced in the Kerala 2026-27 Budget and is scheduled from 16th to 18th September 2026 at Lemon Tree Premier and Hilton Garden Inn.

25. Indian Railways has approved the introduction of the Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express, a tri-weekly long-distance train service numbered 19427/19428. The train will connect Bhuj in Gujarat with Barauni in Bihar over a route of 2,532 km and will pass through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

26. The Union Cabinet approved an increase in the wage ceiling for mandatory coverage under the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month on 16th September 2026. The revised ceiling will apply from 17th September 2026, which coincides with Vishwakarma Day or Vishwakarma Jayanti.

27. The Uttarakhand Service Sankalp campaign will run across the state from 17th September to 17th October 2026. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the month-long campaign on 11th September 2026, and its launch date of 17th September coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

28. The PM Vishwakarma scheme was launched on 17th September 2023 for artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 traditional trades. The scheme has a financial outlay of Rs. 13,000 crore for FY2023-24 to FY2027-28 and provides support through skill training, toolkits, credit, and market linkage measures.

29. The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign began across India on 17th September 2026 and will continue for one month until 17th October 2026. The campaign is jointly organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Department of Urban Development under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The 2026 theme is "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat".

30. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana 2.0 is a rural skilling programme of the Government of India that was upgraded through notified guidelines in May 2025. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development and focuses on training, placement, post-placement support, and employment sustainability for rural youth.

31. The 100-week Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan is scheduled to begin on 18th September 2026 with a nationwide Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh. The initiative is titled "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan" and was launched on 2nd August 2026 through a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

32. Indian Railways approved the doubling of the 10.86-km Chouk-Karjat railway section in Maharashtra on 18th September 2026 project cost of Rs. 497 crore and falls under the Central Railway zone. Railway doubling is the addition of a second track on an existing single-line section. It is used on busy routes to increase line capacity and to improve train movement on mixed passenger and freight corridors.

33. The Government of India dissolved the Digital Communications Commission (DCC), an apex inter-departmental decision-making body under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), with effect from the date of publication of a government resolution dated 19th September 2026. The Union Cabinet approved the winding up of the commission on 16th September 2026.

34. Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth at the 20th Rozgar Mela on 19th September 2026. The letters were issued through video conferencing at 45 locations across India, and the recruits will join several Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.

35. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Delhi PM Surya Ghar registration portal on 21st September 2026. The portal, solar.delhi.gov.in, is linked to the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana for rooftop solar installations in Delhi. The scheme provides a combined Central and Delhi government subsidy of up to Rs. 1.56 lakh for rooftop solar systems of up to 3 kW.

36. India launched the Biovigilance Programme of India (BvPI) in New Delhi on 21st September 2026. The programme was announced during the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week and is linked to patient safety in the use of medicines and biological products.

38. Ladakh increased the monthly honorarium of village heads, known as Nambardars or Gobas, from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 5,000 on 21st September 2026. The revision applies to 247 Nambardars in the Union Territory and is the first such change since 2016.

39. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued guidelines on 21st September 2026 for planning and designing access-controlled high-speed National Highways. The guidelines cover upcoming 4-lane and 6-lane Greenfield and Brownfield corridors and exclude expressways.

40. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the third national conference of chiefs of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on 22nd September 2026 in New Delhi. 43. Shastri Bhawan and Krishi Bhawan are government office buildings in Lutyens Delhi that were constructed between 1956 and 1968. The Central Public Works Department has begun the process to vacate both buildings by the end of September 2026 for demolition and replacement by Kartavya Bhawans 4 and 5 under the Central Vista redevelopment project.

44. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) completed eight years on 23rd September 2026. The scheme was launched on 23rd September 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and provides cashless health coverage for eligible families in India.

45. The Delhi government approved the Driving Upliftment and Rozgar for Women/Transgender Green e-Auto (DURGA) scheme on 23rd September 2026. The scheme provides 1,300 pink electric autos for women and transgender persons in Delhi.

46. Gujarat has registered over 63.35 lakh farmers in its Farmer Registry as of 23rd September 2026. The registry links Aadhaar-based identity with verified land records and forms part of India's digital agriculture framework under the Digital Agriculture Mission and AgriStack.

Orunodoi is Assam's flagship direct benefit transfer scheme launched in 2020.

The Udyog Mitra Portal is part of the Seva Sankalp campaign, also called Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

The Delhi Government and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 28th September 2026 to promote Delhi's art, cultural heritage, tourism, and academic exchanges. The agreement creates an institutional framework for cultural cooperation, artist exchange, and international outreach.

56. The FASTag Annual Pass crossed one crore issued passes on 28th September 2026. The pass was launched on 15th August 2025 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for private vehicle owners using National Highways and National Expressways.

57. The Ministry of Labour and Employment launched the 90-day nationwide "Shram Samvad" awareness campaign on 28th September 2026. The campaign covers industrial clusters in 316 districts across all 36 States and Union Territories and focuses on the four Labour Codes and stakeholder dialogue.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav launched the Guidelines for the implementation of the National Coastal Mission (NCM) 2.0 in New Delhi on 30th September 2026. 60. Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) is a digital youth platform under the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The portal crossed 3 crore registered youth by September 2026, less than three years after its launch on 31st October 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

1. Abhinandan Varthaman, a former Indian Air Force Group Captain, joined the Goa-based regional airline FLY91 as a commercial pilot in 2026. He retired from military aviation on 31st March 2026 after nearly 22 years of service and later moved to civil aviation.

2. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the four recipients of the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024 on 2nd September 2026. The awards recognise achievements in land adventure, water adventure, and lifetime contribution to adventure sports in India.

3. The 36th annual Ig Nobel Prize ceremony was held on 3rd September 2026 at the Zurich Convention Center in Switzerland. The event was hosted outside the United States for the first time in its history, and the awards are associated with the Annals of Improbable Research.

4. Adobe, the San Jose-based software company, announced on 3rd September 2026 that Anil Chakravarthy will become its next president and chief executive officer. Chakravarthy currently heads Adobe's Customer Experience Orchestration business and will join the company's Board of Directors on 1st December 2026.

8. Rani Mukerji received the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award at the 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards ceremony held at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, on 9th September 2026. The award was presented by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the state film event organised by the Maharashtra Government.

9. SriLankan Airlines appointed Vipul Misra as its Acting Chief Executive Officer on 9th September 2026, and the change took effect immediately. Misra continued to head the airline's engineering division while taking charge as acting CEO.

14. N. Chandrasekaran was reappointed as the Executive Chairman of Tata Sons on 17th September 2026 for another five-year term. The new term extends his leadership until 2032 and follows a board decision taken in Mumbai.

15. The Film Federation of India selected the Marathi-language film Gondhal as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards. The announcement was made on 18th September 2026, and the film was chosen from a list of 33 films considered for the national entry.

16. Hansraj Singh Verma has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba. The Ministry of External Affairs announced the appointment on 18th September 2026, and he is expected to take up the assignment in Havana shortly.

He also served in Kerala's cultural institutions and received national and state honours for stage craft and direction.

22. Sarah Peluse, an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University in the United States, was announced on 25th September 2026 as the recipient of the SASTRA-Ramanujan Award for 2026. The award was established in 2005 and is given to mathematicians aged 32 and under for work in areas of mathematics influenced by Srinivasa Ramanujan.

23. Mandeep K. Bhandari, a 2001-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the AGMUT cadre, was appointed chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education on 25th September 2026. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, and the post was temporarily upgraded to the rank and pay of an Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

24. India ranked 31st in the World Economic Forum's Travel & Tourism Development Index 2026, which assessed 110 economies and was published on 25th September 2026. India moved up nine places from 39th in the 2024 index, while Japan secured the first rank in the 2026 edition.

25. The Lalit Kala Akademi, the National Academy of Art, announced 20 awards at the 65th National Exhibition of Art on 27th September 2026. The exhibition is being held at the Lalit Kala Art Galleries, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi, and it covers painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and other visual art forms.

26. Bodhana Sivanandan became the youngest Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in chess history at the age of 11 years on 28th September 2026. She secured her third and final WGM norm at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, while representing England. The WGM title is awarded by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and is one of the recognised women's titles in chess.

27. A Chinese team set a Guinness World Record on 29th August 2026 for the most autonomous underwater vehicles operating simultaneously. The record involved 116 autonomous underwater vehicles, or AUVs, named TH-618s, which carried out autonomous underwater formation navigation without human intervention for 34 minutes over 500 metres.

28. Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma was crowned the 13th King of the Tooro Kingdom in Uganda on 29th September 2026 at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal City. He adopted the regnal name Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I during the coronation ceremony.

29. India spinner Sree Charani became the world No. 1 bowler in the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings on 29th September 2026. She reached 817 rating points, which is the highest tally recorded in the women's T20I bowling rankings. The previous best was 806 rating points, set by Australian pacer Megan Schutt in November 2018.

30. Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri was appointed Prime Minister of Morocco on 29th September 2026 by King Mohammed VI. She became the first woman to hold the office of prime minister in Morocco and the second woman prime minister in the Arab world after Tunisia's Najla Bouden. Her appointment followed the parliamentary election of 23rd September 2026, in which the Authenticity and Modernity Party won 97 of 395 seats.

31. India added five new properties to the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage on 29th - 30th September 2026. The addition raised India's total number of properties on the Tentative List to 78. Four of the five newly added sites are in Madhya Pradesh.

32. Sanjukta Parashar, a 2006-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, became the first woman officer to head the Central Reserve Police Force's CoBRA unit in September 2026. She took charge as Inspector General of the 10-battalion CoBRA formation from 1996-batch IPS officer Danesh Rana.

33. Sethuraman Panchanathan has been named the recipient of the 2026 Arthur M. Bueche Award by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). The award will be presented on 4th October 2026 in Washington, D.C., during the 2026 NAE Annual Meeting. Panchanathan is the first Indian American and the first Arizonan to receive the award in its more than 40-year history.

34. ZT Lalrithangi, also known as Pi Mari-i, is a 35-year-old farmer from Sangau village in Lawngtlai district of Mizoram. She has been selected for the FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development award, which is linked to the International Year of Women Farmers 2026.

35. GIFT City, or Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, ranked 37th globally in the Global Financial Centres Index 40 and 26th in the FinTech rankings in September 2026. The index assessed 139 financial hubs worldwide through 144 quantitative measures and 39,531 professional assessments.

36. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held its centenary celebrations titled Manthan on 30th September 2026 and 1st October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The Commission was established in 1926, and the centenary programme marked 100 years of its existence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the event on 1st October 2026.

37. Narendra Bhooshan, an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1992 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 1st October 2026. He was appointed to the post on 30th September 2026 and succeeded Tanmay Kumar, an IAS officer of the 1993 Rajasthan cadre, who superannuated on the same date.

1. The 2026 Pickleball World Cup was held in Da Nang, Vietnam, from 30th August 2026, and India finished fourth in the overall medal standings with 41 medals. The Indian tally included seven gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze medals, and the result marked an improvement from India's seventh-place finish at the previous World Cup.

2. India will host the Hyundai World Archery Para Series 2026 for the first time at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 5th to 9th September 2026. The tournament is Stage 3 of the 2026 World Archery Para Series and will feature competition in Recurve Open, Compound Open, W1, and Visually Impaired divisions.

3. The Indian men's U20 football team qualified for the AFC U20 Asian Cup main tournament after 20 years, with its last appearance recorded in 2006. India secured qualification on 6th September 2026 after a 3-0 win over Bangladesh at Do'stlik Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

4. Indian men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the China Masters (badminton tournament) title on 6th September 2026 at Shenzhen Arena in Shenzhen, China. 6. Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza on 6th September 2026 for Mercedes. He became the first Italian to win his home Grand Prix in 60 years, after Ludovico Scarfiotti won the race in 1966. Antonelli was 20 years old at the time of the victory.

7. India won two gold medals and one silver medal on the penultimate day of the World Archery Para Series Stage III at Ahmedabad in Gujarat on 8th September 2026. The results came in compound, recurve, and mixed team events in para archery, which is governed internationally by World Archery.

8. The 503-member Indian contingent for the 20th Asian Games received an official send-off in New Delhi on 8th September 2026. The Games are scheduled from 19th September 2026 to 4th October 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and Indian athletes will compete in 36 sporting disciplines.
