Doordarshan channels have nearly 95% reach in India. But private TV channels have better viewership and impact on the audience. Why did the DD lose its sheen?

A) Old programmes are being telecast. The announcers are old and lack creative thoughts in their presentations. Other TV channels are more glossy. The DD is using traditional music and simple studios to sell its software B) Corporate forms like Zee, Sony and Star can spend a lot of money in promoting their respective channels. On the other hand, the DD is cash-strapped C) Good-quality (and affluent) sponsors are not available to the DD. But private channels have the support of various corporate groups D) The government plans to telecast only traditional act forms, news, political event and a few (Friday) movies. Hence, its viewership has reduced in terms of number in rural India
