Hemorrhagic septicemia (HS), an acute and highly fatal disease of cattle and buffalo, is caused by Pasteurella multocida. HS occurs as catastrophic epizootics in many Asian and African countries, resulting in high mortality and morbidity.
Septicemic pasteurellosis has especially been used for disease outbreaks in cervids and other wild ungulates.
