Dr. C. T. Patel is known as the father of hybrid cotton. The world's first hybrid variety of cotton i.e. H4 was developed by the late Dr. C. T. Patel at Cotton Research Station, Surat, Gujarat in the year 1970. That is why he is known as the father of hybrid cotton.
This hybrid because of its high yield potential became a popular variety among the farmers for cultivation.
