The characteristics of Streptococcus are it is Gram-positive cocci and is arranged in chains. It is Catalase - Ve.
Streptococci are nonmotile, non-spore forming, catalase-negative cocci that occur in pairs or chains. Older cultures may lose their Gram-positive character. Most streptococci are facultative anaerobes, and some are obligate (strict) anaerobes.
