    The slaking reaction is:
    CaO + H2O = Ca(OH)2
    Molecular weight of CaO = 56 g/mol
    Molecular weight of H₂O = 18 g/mol
    Therefore, 56 g of CaO requires 18 g of water.

    For 10 kg (10,000 g) of CaO:
    (18/56)* 10 = 3.21kg
    Although the theoretical water requirement is 3.2 kg per 10 kg of CaO, in practice about 2–3 times this amount is often used to ensure complete slaking.
